"The Elephant Diet" Day # 86 Couldn't say it better

I've been working on a song this week for a little girl with a permanent disability.  I do this from time to time for an organization called Songs of Love.  It has been a wonderful opportunity artistically.

Many times the child would list their favorite music artist so I could try to write in that genre.  The two names that showed up the most were Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana.  I began listening to the music of these two artists so that I could emmulate their style for the sake of the child that requested a song, as much as is possible with my little home studio.

Yesterday as I was walking, I pulled up a song of Miley's (Hannah Montana) on my iphone.  I've always liked this song, but when I listened again from the view that I have right now with this dream of a Christmas show, I couldn't believe how much I felt like someone has been reading my mind.

I couldn't say it any better.

The Climb

 I can almost see it

That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

  1. A couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, I was taking a break and turned on the TV. I ended up on a channel showing a Hannah Montanna movie, and though the movie was nearly over, I stayed with it because it was clear she was getting ready to go on stage, and I wanted to hear what she would do. This is the song she sang. It was the first time I had heard it, and I thought it was a great song. Keep moving, Frances! Keep climbing and keep the faith. :)
